How It Started
Our initiative began in March 2022 with the vision of creating a space where students could gain valuable real-world experience while positively impacting their community. The idea was born out of a desire to provide practical learning opportunities and to promote sustainability and healthier living.
Our Partners
We are proud to collaborate with various esteemed partners, including Coop and Health Connections. These partnerships enable us to offer a range of resources and support, enriching the experiences we provide to our students.
Empowering Students
We are dedicated to helping students develop essential skills to serve them well in their future careers. Through our programme, students gain:
- Customer Service Skills: Students learn to communicate effectively, address inquiries, and provide exceptional service by interacting with customers.
- Money Management: Handling transactions and managing funds helps students understand the importance of financial responsibility.
- Retail Experience: Students stock, merchandise, and sell products, giving them hands-on experience in the retail industry.
These experiences are meticulously designed to be both educational and practical, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the workforce. We believe in providing hands-on experiences that mirror the real world, giving our students a head start in their careers.
Who We Serve and What We Sell
Our Student Shop caters to the student community at Delancey Campus, offering various products focused on sustainability and health. We sell donated clothing, promoting a sustainable lifestyle by encouraging the reuse and recycling of clothing. Additionally, we offer healthier food options, including nutritious snacks, to support better eating habits among students.
Students are actively involved in all aspects of the store’s operations. They access and organise stock, manage inventory, and create appealing merchandise displays. This hands-on involvement allows them to develop key skills crucial in the retail sector.
Our Location
We are based at the Delancey Campus, providing a convenient and accessible location for students to engage with our program and take advantage of the opportunities we offer.
Our Vision for the Future
We aim to continue developing this initiative, expanding our reach and enhancing the experiences we provide. We are committed to fostering more collaborations within our community, ensuring our students benefit from a wide network of support and resources.
