Delancey Garden – Open Event
The College is holding an open working party event at the Delancey Kitchen Garden on Saturday 10 September.
The garden – located within Delancey Park – was donated to the College two years ago and has been taken under the wing of local charity AccessAbility.
The College’s Access course for students with disabilities, teaches life skills such as cooking, cleaning and gardening, with key academic subjects such as mathematics embedded within the teaching. The garden has formed a fundamental role in the Access course and thanks to generous donations and support from organisations such as Stan Brouard, Guernsey Gardens and Krys Global, the plot has been transformed from a fallow patch of land to a thriving vegetable, fruit and herb garden.
The College is inviting anyone who has a spare hour to come along on Saturday to lend a hand with some gardening tasks. So if you have a little time you could spare to pull up a few weeds or do a bit of digging we would love to see you there. Tools, gloves and light refreshments will be provided. Families are welcome – there are plenty of jobs to be done.
Anytime from 10.00am to 3.00pm
