Lizzie Hollingsworth completed a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts with is earlier in 2021. She has recently begun studying towards a BA (Hons) in Acting at the University of Winchester and within her first week was offered an ‘Academy Achievement Award’. 

The Vice-chancellor of the university said when offering Lizzie the award: “Your examination results show that you are a first-class student and the university is offering you an Academic Achievement Award and an invitation to join The Winchester Scholars Scheme, designed to provide intellectual stimulation for students with an outstanding academic record. The aim of the scheme is to enable scholars to maintain their outstanding academic record.”  

Lizzie was delighted to have received the accolade: “The University was really impressed with my exam results, especially after such a challenging few years, and wanted to congratulate me by offering me an Academic Achievement Award of £200. I was also invited to be a part of the Winchester Scholars Scheme where I can attend talks by incredible people from all over the world. I even the chance to go to Dublin in the future. As someone who has always loved education it feels like a big honour to me.”

Vanessa Mae Lecturer in Performing Arts said: “We are so proud of Lizzie and her achievements. She was a fantastic student gaining excellent grades and being named department ‘Student of the Year’. Her performance of Titania in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and her rendition of headmistress Mrs Whitchurch in ‘The Happiest Days of your Life’ showcased Lizzie’s versatility and promise as an actor, but behind the scenes there was also an academic rigour in her research, critical analysis and reflective writing. She was fantastic to work with and I have no doubt she will go on to greater things.”  

This year, 100% of students who completed their Performing Arts qualifications at The Guernsey Institute have gone on to study ay university or other higher education establishments/drama schools.

I wish Lizzie every success and look forward to seeing how her career develops in the future,” said Louise Misselke, Principal of College of Further Education and Executive Director of The Guernsey Institute.
