Celebrate Chinese New Year with us
Did you know 2016 is the Chinese Year of the Monkey?
The college is hosting a celebration of Chinese New Year on Saturday 13 February at Les Ozouets from 2pm to 5pm. The island has been benefiting from the teaching skills of two Chinese nationals for the last 18 months and as we forge business links with the region this event will educate us all about the Chinese culture and traditions.
It’s a free event and open to all the family with lots things going on, Chinese food to sample, displays, and the chance to have a go at some Chinese arts.
Children from La Mare Primary, La Mare High, St Martins & St Mary & St Michael School will be singing and dancing the Chinese New Year Song,
The schedule for the afternoon:
2.00pm Event begins
2.15 Performance from the children
2.30pm Short talk about the Chinese New Year
2.45pm A sample of Chinese food will be available, there will also be a film showing on the screen called A bite of China to enjoy while you eat
3.30pm Workshops – Calligraphy & Paper cutting – get a hands-on experience
4:15 School performance to tell the story of the Chinese New Year
4:30 Red letter competition with separate prizes for children & adults.
5:00 Event ends
